So i just got an azalea from the nursery i work at, still in its pot and such.
It is late summer and im not sure if i should wait until spring to do some hard pruning now, or can i do it now.

any advice is appreciated

thanks!

Pruning now is fine... you won't want it to flower next year anyway, and the only thing you might be risking at the moment is next year's flowers.

Enjoy your azalea... V

I would do minor pruning in the fall. You could also start to style it then too. Major pruning should be done after flowering or in early spring, but if you do it in spring, you should not let it flower, it will need time to regain strength. Flowering is the second biggest stress to an azalea.

its basically completely done with its growing period
so i dont think it would matter either way, now or then...

My azaleas are still pushing, but all of mine are satsukis. But be patient. The advice I gave you are good general rules for azaleas.
