Hey everyone,

My roommate's cat recently got into my room and had a nice nom on my plant (I've read sago palms can be poisonous but she's fine). Before then, I think I had been overwatering it a bit and some of the newer fronds browned before unfurling. For these reasons, the plant's pretty banged up looking at the moment (although still growing a new leaf!). Pictures below. Can anyone advise me on what to do about the damage?

All you can do is cut off the damaged areas. You could cut the brown tips to a point and that'll last awhile until they turn brown as well. Just have to wait for the new ones, sego's put out those fronds and when new ones harden off just cut off the old ones. Watch the water they don't need to be kept wet.

I have them in my landscaping here. Some years we will get a bad freeze that will damage the fronds. I wait unit the new one start coming out in spring and cut off the old ones. Some years we get a really bad freeze and it totally kills the fronds and turns them white. I cut the off in the spring. I have had them push out new fronds eventually. I had one I thought got totally killed one year so I cut all the fronds off. It did not put out any fronds for an entire season. I never got around to digging it out. Two summers latter which was this summer it pushed out new fronds.

I got one a few years back from the loWses' junk rack. Someone had dropped it and killed half the fronds on one side(first windswept sago I have ever seen:rolleyes:) Anyway, my sago puts out all its growth in mid-summer all in one quick push. And being dropped did not really slow it down. Just keep the cat at bay.
