Planted the small trident on a stone. I used some bubble wrap for use as pressure points on the roots to help mold them to the stone. The stone is rather phallic looking, but I like to think it may be a primitive phehistoric stone axe.

Anyway it was a shape that worked for the stone since it had to be rather thin to work with the roots. Sorry I didn't get a shot of the roots combed out. I just plain forgot. Here it is potted up.

As loked over the trees from yesterdays rain I spotted my small yamadori style pine. It was covered with small buds starting to just show needles. I could not believe the amount of buds. I attribute this to the yearly useage of humic acid. Spring now comes with such a bang since I started using it.

awesome buds.
al in post 24 the last picture of the trident over the stone, with that whirl of branches do you let them all grow or do you eventually chop one or two off so you dont get a bulge there?

Yes it needs a prune job. This one has not had much branch training. Just been working on the trunk. As soon as the leaves have unrolled for three nodes it will be pruned back, I will take care of that top then. Good call though, it is rather full of twigs isn't it.

Is that the pine you twisted the trunk on in another thread?

Big Cal juniper was in need of rewire. Took all the aluminum wire off and rewired in copper. Took 12 hours total. Also pruned it back hard and this year I will pinch to promote a fuller look. Need longer shoots on right upper side. Maybe this year.

Tree is 42 inches tall.

No flys on that one, give you a few more years and I think you will get the idea.....

Smoke was on vacation for 4 days. Friday thru Monday. Had a blast. Went to the coast and finally took a tour thru Hearst Castle. All my life, go to the central coast about 8 times a year and never been before. All I can say is Wow! What a place. two more tours I have not seen...will be back again soon for the other two. The largest collection of Greek/ Etruscan vases from 5th and 6th Century B.C. await my next visit. For an ancients coin collector this was a dream come true. William R. Hearst was quite a conniseur of the Roman-Greek ancient art.

I love Etruscan Italy, the artisans of that time period were unbelievable, i went to a jewelry exhibit of that time period, just exquisite. If it had not been for the barbaric Romans, they could have been one of the great civilizations of all time. Do you know the story of how the Romans decimated their existence, tragic. The Romans at the time were just a bunch of thugs, robbers, thieves and undesirables, and they had no women, the Etuucan's did. So the Romans had a great party and invited the Etruscan's, got them all drunk, killed them and stole their women. Story in a nutshell.
