What's the best background?

Last days I've been thinking about the best studio background to photograph my trees.
So today I made some tests. Wich do you think is the most desirable for a bonsai pic? Dark or light? Or maybe it depends on the tree?

I personally prefer the dark one. It adds some drama and fantasy.....And yes, it's the same photograph with different postprocessings.

Dark. The light background reflects too much light and mutes the details

I'm going to go 50/50. The dark background blends in with some parts almost hiding some of the tree. Like the upper right side. It almost disappears.
With the white the same with the trunk it blends in. Maybe a gray :)

The dark looks more professional, the light reminds me of the background for grade school pictures.
