I have to move some trees I've had in the ground for about 3 years, there is a:
Japanese Maple
JWP
JBP
Cherry
I have some questions about the best way to go about this. It is already below 0 C at night and from a previous post I just read it sounds like it's too late now. Can this also be done in the spring? If so should the roots be cut a few weeks prior to a move also should the Pines be treated differently than the Cherry and Maple?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Spring is your best bet.

The cherry just as the buds are swelling. I'm a fan of bare rooting deciduous trees at collection. It gives you a chance to get it into good soil all at once. Do any major cutbacks at the same time. Put the tree right into full sun after collection. The heat will help with root growth.

The pines should be collected when the candles are extending. When digging try to preserve as many roots as possible and avoid bare rooting. I like growing pines in colanders to encourage root development. Also plant in a well draining bonsai mix. After collection put the tree in a spot with dappled shade or morning sun. Move it into full sun over the course of a few weeks.
