Hi everyone, I just bought a Japanese silverberry prebonsai and was wondering when are the most appropriate times for structural pruning/big cuts.
It is currently late autumn here in Australia.

Thankyou

BUMP!

The Bonsai Society of San Fran. calendar lists late Fall (Nov. in northern hemisphere) as the time for heavy pruning on fruiting/flowering trees. But I plan on making some large cuts this week on my pre-bonsai Silverberry.

@Dav4 any info on timing?

I'm no expert, but I'd suggest treating silverberries like other trees and performing big cuts and structural pruning just before or during the growing season. Also, depending on species, they bloom in spring or fall, and that might alter your timing if you want to see the flowers.
