Almost 4 years ago I had bought a juniper sabina in a 5 gallon container from home depot. Since then I've practiced approach grafts high up on the trunk using it's own foliage. But I'm curious. Now that I view this material a lot different from when I first started ( has a lot of pottential)I dont know if i should graft shimpaku stock or it's own sabina foliage? The height of the tree is going to be 10 - 12 inches and maybe I havnt been paying attention but most sabinas are taller and bigger bonsai. I thought that was because of their foliage not being as compact especially when compared to shimpaku foliage. If anybody has any pictures of sabinas that are under a foot tall and in a refined state please post them. I would appreciate that and any advice or thoughts from what I've written above. Thanks.
