Where to collect wild pines in Southern Ontario, Canada?

Hi,

Just curious if anyone out here know a good place to collect wild red pine in around Toronto area.
Is it legal to collect wild ones in Toronto?

You should be thinking about Pitch Pine and Larch. I have never seen a native Red Pine bonsai of any quality.

Native Red Pine is hard to collect; at least that's the story I hear from those around here who have tried. As to Red Pine in general I think most people when hearing "Red Pine" think of Japanese Red Pine. The Red Pine that grows in N. America has really long needles, does not take to bonsai culture well and is difficult to harvest.

Wild or "tame," it is legal only if you have the permission of the land upon which they are growing -- government, commercial or private.
