this tree is regaining its vigor. it will either go one more year or get a styling next year. It has been neglected and I am redoing this pine. Not 100% sure where to go but the pine has good size about 2-3 inch trunk and large nebari hidden under that soil. It is quite old.

Nice tree and good luck with it. I've given up on JWP here in the South (actually, I never started:o ) as they seem to require alot of extra work to keep healthy. The pot looks a bit large for the tree, so be careful with watering.

its in pure fast draining inorganics. I needed to feed it aggressively hence the pot size. It is flourishing and finally pushing growth and cones and pollen cones so I see good things.

Nice looking tree, how long have you had it and where did you acquire. Would love to see more pics! I think after styling and putting branches where you want it's really going to look great as it looks to have nice foliage close to the trunk.

Beautiful tree. I do not know how much experience you have with white pine. If it were mine, I think the branches that are very thick should probably be removed, unless you are going to keep one to cut back to in order to create a different top. In time, those thick branches will only get thicker and become even more out of scale with the trunk. Also, removing them will put more energy to the younger, thinner branches. Also, leave stubs, do not cut them flush. Using cut paste is almost a necessity here. If not, they are going to bleed streams down the trunk. It will be quite messy and can get on the rest of the foliage etc.

Once again, I do not know your experience with these, you might already know all this. Very rough material.

The one at the top will be gone for sure. There is a nice apex hidden to the side of it. I hesitate to do any removal right now as I am trying to PUMP vigor into this tree. Excessive branches and foilage should bring the health back. I need big root system and foilage to get the vigorous growth I want to see. This is on a five year plan (I am using the single flush Pine Yamadori method that Ryan Neil teaches in Pine lecture 2).
