White ‘fuzz’ in top layer of soil

Having just acquired a relatively large Larch, I’ve cleaned the pot out as it was full of weeds and just dressed with acadama until I repot in January.

I’ve noticed some white ‘fuzz’ appearing (see pictures) and wondered what it was, my best guess would be damp soil and humid temperatures - which it has been over the past couple of weeks here in the UK. I’ve not got this on any of my other trees though - and haven’t had it before.

Looks like it's on fert remnants.

Might not need a repot.

January?

My local bonsai nursery suggested end of Jan to repot

It came in a plastic pot which has bowed at the bottom, plus it is quite tall - tree will definitely benefit from a nicer and slightly shallower pot I think
