Can anyone tell me what this may be? They are white spots on the leaves on a ginger ficus. A website said it’s harmless, just wanted to double check. Thanks y’all, happy spring!

They’re called cystoliths and are calcium carbonate crystals in the leaf itself. It’s not harmful and believed to aid in photosynthesis by scattering light throughout the leaf.

Ha!
I remember when I posted about the exact same thing.😜
Welcome to the world of ficus!

Some also theorize the cystoliths may attract the wasps that all species of ficus need for pollination.
Still, though, they're normal. If you didn't see them that would be the concern.
Different species of may have them in different patterns, and of different sizes.
