Hey all,
Recently noticed some white growth at the base of the trunk and underneath the moss. The soil has been damp due to heavy rains here. Trying to let it dry out. Anyone have any idea what this is?

Is this a pine tree by chance?

Yes, it’s a Japanese Black Pine.

Thanks Mike. That’s good to know!
