White Pines in Southern California

Hello all,
Anyone with experiences and has successfully grown White Pines or Ponderosa Pines in Southern California. I live in San Diego USDA zone 10a.

Don't recommend it unless you live in the mountains. they need a real winter.

Summer this year has been extremely hot. My Eastern White Pine was doing great until mid summer this year. Needles on lower branches turned brown and yellow, then 2 weeks later they moved up to the top. So I moved the tree to an almost full shade now, it's only getting about 3 hrs of morning sun. There's still a good fair amount of new growths and healthy candles on the tree so hopefully it will make it through this summer.

I gave my 3 BEAUTIFUL white pines to my teacher... I was afraid I was going to cause them to die!!
