Noticed that it seems like every time I see a chojubai quince for sale online it's really expensive for the size and development. I admittedly don't know a lot about them. What gives?

I think Michael Hagedorn has a lot to do with it. He has several fantastic posts on them with nice pictures and great advice for care/styling. I think he really made many take a second look and appreciate these cool little trees. They are also more on the rare side in the US. You can't find them easily. However they are really easy to propagate once you get one. I remember Jonas had cutting grown ones that he just started for like $7 at the last BIB show.
