I will see you there this Saturday then... I am going to be at Sanibel Island for the week
and figured I would take the class. In the 7 and a half yrs I have known Eric, I have never
once been able to attend any classes he has had offered... And Mike Lane is a pretty cool
guy.

Also, seeing that the trees we get to pick from sell at $150 and the class is only $100...
Seems Like it will be fun !!! Glad to hear you are going to this.
:)

Really? Rich, well connected & traveled but I didn't know he reached this status already.
This is my bad... I re-typed what they had
on their facebook event listing incorrect...

Check out the link I supplied with my first post...

That's funny, I currently work out on Sanibel Island. I met Mike Lane last month at our club meeting, he seems to be a good guy and I imagine will be a good teacher.

Yes, I think any of his buttonwoods have something to offer, $150 is when they start to really be something interesting. I bought the pictured buttonwood about a month ago for $85, I repotted, wired and gave it a heavy cutback intending to shape new buds (it's backbudding like crazy now) more easily. Deadwood (top) will probably be carved within a couple weeks or next spring. Since the picture I've added some wet spagnum moss to the base where roots are pushing out of the botton 1/3 of the visible trunk.

Well, thought I would show this off somewhere. Had a lot of fun today, very confident about this tree's future.

Was a pleasure meeting you sawgrass. Let me know when you finish wiring! ;)

I've only been to Wigerts once but man if I lived in Florida, I would be there all the time. I love when Bonsai nurseries have specimens on display.

Thought I would Bump this thread seeing that this event is
taking place this weekend !!!
Hope to see some of you guys there...

Sanibel

I have a Sanibel vacation planned in April. I'm excited to check out Wigerts nursery when I get down there. Do they have normal business hours?

Are there any other decent nurseries in that area?

As far as hours... Yes they do, but if you give them a call Andrea or Eric
might be able to accommodate you.

As far as other nurseries... I never made it past theirs.

By the way, if you have never been to Sanibel, you will like it !!!
I have been going there every August since I was 7, I am
42 now...

Wish it was in my neck of the woods...learned of a demo being done in March. So I do look forward to that! Raffleing off the trees worked on...is that common practice? Sounds like fun all around!

It was nice to meet you too! You are very talented with your drawings and scrolls. How did the monkey turn out?

Best,
Dorothy
