A friend offered me a, first he said honeysuckle tree and then told me they are also called wild azalea. He knows I work with bonsai and was just trying to be nice. So I told him I would try a couple, I had seen one in his yard and it was coved with pretty flowers. I figured I can put them at the outer edge of my yard or try one for bonsai. Both are small, about 5' tall, one single trunk pencil size and the other is twin trunk about finger size. Is there any future for this as bonsai or should I just plant as yard trees?
Thanks

It has potential as a bonsai. I think they're trunks thicken very slowly though. You probably will have to plant in the ground for some years before you get to a size suitable for training.

There are some good examples out there if you search for them. I'm on mobile so it is difficult for me to post any.

Nice, thanks for the looky see!

I think you could enjoy them in the yard while keeping the low parts maintained for future bonsai use.
