Will this stick in a pot ever be anything?

Thanks. I'll try that with some sort of sand layer below the pot to help control moisture. I tried using a pan below the bottom towards end of winter and I think that actually hurt it more from a couple of big rains that created standing water in the pan.

I’m sure, also, that there are many cheap/free materials along with methods aplenty to insulate pots..

Duct-tape, bubblewrap, newspaper, egg cartons, seran wrap with salt dough, dropping the entire pot into a larger pot with insulating materials and air pockets between, burlap, hinge-doors, packing subrate/mulch AROUND containers...

Lots of options and ideas for pot sweaters.... ;)

Hardy native trees I bury in the ground surrounded with a mulch. I cover them with a tarp for wind protection. When it snows I peel the tarp back. When it rains they are covered unleas they havent been watered for a couple weeks. All my trees leafed out.

Good luck with your tiny maples!!
