Willow-leaf ficus all wired up...

Willow leaf ficus wired up. Before and after. Black stuff was not a problem 'till it moved from sea level to 1200 feet and a lot more rain. So far nothing works to remove it. Any ideas?

I struggle with this stuff sometimes. We have really high humidity. Letting the soil dry out and raking it off keeps it away for a while but it comes back. Annoying stuff. Maybe after a repot clean the roots and scrub the bark with a toothbrush before getting it in new soil.. I might try that next repot.
