I've had this little tree for about three years now (where does the time go?), but I haven't posted pic of it in a while. It dropped its leaves after bringing it in so I decided to take a picture of it. I'm not pleased with the base. I need to work on creating an actual nebari. The top is starting to ramify. Still needs a lot of work, cutting back, wiring, reducing branches, etc.

Nice. The good flare makes up for any lack of surface roots. Looks an easy fake with some moss!

Shouldn't be too hard to get that going anyway!

Any plans to ditch that right low branch?

I think it looks great! Thanks for sharing.

Have you had in that pot for the 3 years or just put it in there?

Thanks everyone. This has been my learning tree.

I've been contemplating losing it. Probably will come spring time. I've been trying to thicken the left first branch up a little bit too.

It's been in a similar sized pot for the past three years. I've repotted once a year. A couple years ago it got knocked out of the pot in the middle of summer so that year I guess you could say it was repotted twice that year.

Should be fun to cut back hard and wire out.

Yeah, I planned on cutting everything hard back to a line then cutting back another time or two after it gets growing.

What's it look like from the back?

The base looks pretty bad from the back. It's like a slingshot stuck into the pot almost with the posts sticking slightly forward.
