I did, in February....it didnt like it.....should have waited till summer.Nice. I have one ive been thinking about hacking back to the trunk and starting over. Did you cut this one back? How long ago?
Bare trunk....at a poor time of year....it was late February last year, if I recall. When you originally chopped it back, did you chop back to a branch? Or did you chop back to bare trunk?
Thanks Lance! No scale insects!!! Awesome!!!! These lil' jerks won't go away this year.
Looks nice and healthy
Mine sits like the dead most of the winter. It's just starting to wake up. Nice chunky base on yours. The WLF stalled out in January and I think was staying too wet it that pot, with that particular soil mix. It may have just needed a yearly break as well....at any rate I repotted a few weeks ago, into something a bit larger that I had on hand, with a chunkier soil mix, topped with sphagnum.
New leaves are emerging!
So I thinned a couple branches and wired it.
So far, my master plan is working with this tree....which was to prune the first branches while young, and build some bifurcation from the beginning.
I'll let this run now until the wire need to be removed, and reassess.

I wonder if it has to do with what happens in the previous summer....same...this was my first winter with this species. Sat there leafless all winter in the window where my other ficus - tiger bark and benjamina - kept pushing new growth all through winter.
I’d just about given up on it, but now seems to be waking up...
I don't think so; I think it is just its nature. I had them in 3 different locations in my house and they all defoliated although conditions were quite different.I wonder if it has to do with what happens in the previous summer....
Maybe....
