Perhaps he could justify the placement logically, but visually it’s uncomfortable to see the cypress so close to the table surface. And if it must be like that maybe it shouldn’t be the primary tree in the display?

Yes it is very nice! Not a whole lot I see of red pines. This one was originally collected as a mountain seedling in Japan.

Juan suggested when it gets repotted to change its planting angle to make the curve more dramatic.

I don’t know if it’s “vigor”, but JRP starts producing the summer candles in about 2 weeks whereas it takes JBP about 3 weeks.

Also, JRP needles tend to be thinner and longer than JBP. Decandling later helps to keep them short.
