This is a pink pixie boggle from a cutting. It was a guinea pig to see if wrapping with raffia works for thicker branches and trunks. Its been growing for about a year now, and i thought i would try to get it more on its way.

I am entering two Mops Mugo Pines. These two trees were reduced down in the Summer of 2016, and they were potted into these training pots in the Summer of 2017. Mike can attest to that he was there.

I'm entering this Bolivian Chili pepper. Right now it is in a container with it's other brothers and sisters from the season, so the first step will obviously be to separate it into it's own pot. Right off the bat this one grow much quicker than the others. It developed a nice taper and movement on it's own. I haven't seen many pepper bonsai on this site, so I'll be the mad scientist and try it out!

updated pic of the Ilex and a box store lorapetalum that I got on mark down due to a big split at the top. the side that died I peeled off, and still thinking about lopping the rest off below the split. It turned out to be potted a few inches too deep and had a nice bunch of flared roots below that might turn into something. DSCN6292.JPG DSCN6291.JPG

I'll enter the bougie I picked up last weekend. Not sure what happened to the one branch. Maybe nursery tape choked it, fell off and then the branch swole? Also had reverse taper. I cut off the swollen branch and chopped where the reverse taper was on the trunk. Trimmed the branches back as well. Wiring will be done this weekend. 1104171603.jpg 1104172335a.jpg1105172100b.jpg

Here is mine. It was purchased last year for a possible entry into a contest but not used. It was left at my father's house to avoid any more complaints from the girlfriend at the time then nesissary. She is gone and it is back my complaint department is closed. IMG_20171105_095535500.jpg

All the work was done as I was wrapping things up for winter... We'll see how that works out.IMG_20171105_102316630.jpgmy thoughts are to let it fill out in the spring and then remove everything about the top wired branch and use that.IMG_20171105_112102085.jpg

My entry #1 is an Ilex Glabra I picked up from my landscape friend for nothing in June of 2016. I took it out of the 5 gal can and stuffed into this shallow grow box that same summer. The following winter I played with deadwood and broke a branch wiring. Fixed with electrical tape. That's the only "work" ha ha that's been done to date.
I feel lots of room for improvement here...
I created this thread below for anyone interested in more detail and the hopeful progression of the tree. Follow along for a good chuckle:)

I am going to enter this Cuz it's a legit way to accomplish this goal of keeping a contest tree alive!

Mostly eff rooted and basketed about 2 months ago from the Depot.

It's been about a month since I brought the Bolivian Pepper in doors for the winter. It's beginning to push new buds all over, so it's time to get this bad boy into it's own pot VERY soon!15110289486771574443728.jpg
