I live in Minnesota and the temperatures get down to -30 F. I have only cold hardy deciduous and a few junipers (bush honeysuckle, acer rubrum, potentilla, hornbeam, and a trident maple) in this cold frame.
I live in a condo and only have access to a south side. I have them surrounded by chicken wire covered in tarp on all sides to block wind. The trees are surrounded by mulch and covered in a lot of snow since it has been snowing a lot. Hopefully this is okay.
I recently put a tarp over the top also, since the sides did not come up high enough to block all sun and wind. It is vented. Hopefully it is okay to have this on top.
Is this set up okay? Will this be adequate protection from deep freezes and drying out? Is it okay that some of them are almost completely covered by snow? Thanks
