Winter seiju prune

Branch form this summer was very heringbone growth. Was it correct to select and eliminate throughout the heringbone growth on the three main branches? The two pictures, one is the middle of summer, and the other is yesterday 1-10-16

I got a Hokkaido this summer.
Odd growth really.

Are you making trunk extensions up there? Branches? What do you intend to keep? A drawing perhaps of a finished idea?

I am going to be very deliberate in my clip'n'grow.
Branches will also have to be left to run.

Your question is kind of vague, without knowing your goals, plans!

In the pic with all the leaves off, the plan for the branches are

To let them expand, be decent branches.

But do you see the guy at the tip top of the chop? (Circled on pic)

I thought wiring the branches beside it would slow their growths and to give the little guy a shot...
I dont know how nice itll look if the little guy got wayyyy bigger. I think a seiju would produced a huge knot even if i could get the chop to heal real good, there would still be a knot.

The way I call em....
All of those branches, that create your green foliage clouds.....
I consider those sub trunks....

What is coming from those, branches..

If you are asking if that will create a bulgy ugly knot.....
I reckon it can, but you can also make it not knot!

In the case those are sub trunks....
I dont think you need that branch.

I think when looking into the future....
It is hard to speak the language.....
Even if we are talking about the same future.
