Love that korean hornbeam "stump clump" (tree #66). And that persimmon...must...have...one! Some day.

It was nice to meet you at the show!
Thank you sir but we met in Asheville back in October w/out mustache and hat, you taught me about the shohin mountain display concept amongst other things. You really need to write a book or have a Youtube channel.

Did anyone get a picture of the Dav4, Mach5 table dance off?
The Comfort Inn lobby was the place to be... just about 11:30 pm last night... those damn Mich Ultras sneak up on you if you're not careful!! Not sure there's photo or video evidence of what went down... oh well... :p

@MACH5, It’s actually not my tree. It belongs to my friend Morgan, who like yourself, is a deciduous specialist. He’s also a Boon student. He travels a lot, so I keep it for him. The majority of his trees are still in development and are in larger grow boxes. So, his wife can keep them watered. A deciduous maple in a tiny pot requires closer supervision which I can provide.

It’s not a special cultivar, just a regular trident, with tiny leaves due to being kept in full sun and a small pot. Ahem... I don’t “hedge prune” it. Actually, now that the show is over, I will cut it back! I wanted to show it with the fine twigs and buds, but to keep it in good condition, and set it up for next spring, I’ll cut it back to prevent it from becoming “knobby”.

Morgan has owned it for about 3 years, and he acquired it from Paul Kellum.

Lol!!! So you are! Sorry, I didn’t pick that up!

Now that we have multiple Mach’s, I wonder how many Dav’s we’ll have... we’re currently on @Dav4.

Just for the record... how’s your table dancing?

Yeah, they broke the mold of “Dav’s”. You’re the the only one!

Now, those “Mach’s”... they’re a dime a dozen!

Yeah i thought everyones displays were really nice and I look forward to seeing what you guys bring to Asheville in June. Are there any other shows from now until then like in the spring that people go to?

The Asheville show is “different”. There are about a dozen clubs that are invited to display, and each club gets a table to display however they wish. The show encourages “innovative display”, so some clubs will put more emphasis on the “display”, and sometimes it distracts from the trees. (My opinion, anyway). I’ve also noticed that many of the Clubs’ displays have too many trees, so the displays sometimes look “crowded”. Mind you, there will be some great trees there. Ryan Neil will be the headliner next year, so I think everyone will bring out their best stuff.

This is fantastic

In the thread "TP shantung", bunjinkorea mentioned penjing : this one is typical of a very common penjing style.

A few years ago, I downloaded pages from a Chinese website, but unfortunately I can't find it again, the adress http://www.bonsaicn.com/ returns no result :(

Here is one of the photos. It's on a page translated by "(Lingnan) lying dry tree shape" (probably not a very accurate translation). I'm 100% certain Bobby will love it  :
