i like the fallen raft style because it reminds me of something i could come across in the woods or park, nothing to do with penjiing :)

... and great trees, with lots of very different styles and approches : 👍
This reminds me of a conversation I had with my mentor yesterday, He told me about how you could send in a picture of your tree to a european bonsai magazine and Peter Adams would pick a tree and draw all the different options of styles you could do for said tree with directions for each one. I am really fascinated by this idea and wonder if anyone has read any of his books and which ones would you recommend? Here is one of the books and a link for more information on raft styles: https://bonsaibark.com/2015/08/16/going-rafting-on-sinuous-roots/

I had a great time at the show on Saturday. Unfortunately, I missed the critique on Sunday. Are the winners of each category posted anywhere?

Lol, beautiful tree. Last year's show was my first bonsai event. It inspired me to learn more about bonsai rather than do what I was doing - killing a bunch of stuff from my yard!
Congrats to all the participants and thanks to the vendors. This event had such a wealth of bonsai knowledge. It is cool to be able to see and buy anything bonsai related at this location a couple times a year. What a treat...

I liked the va pine bc it reminded me of the Appalachian mounts and I heard it was not wired. The slab of moss and art was a great combo
