Wiring Over Spruce Needles

When wiring spruce, how far out on to the branch tip do you wire? Also, do you just wire
over needles? I can't believe you'd try to wire between those tiny things.

Wiring for spruce and fir is a slightly different technique where the wire as it progresses to the tips is coiled further out to cage the needles. The wire is then manipulated to position the tips.
Here is a photo to show what I am describing. Note in this case you use a bit heavier wire than if you are just trying to place between the needles as wiring.

This. When I wired my ezo, i made a loose coil to sort of support the dense tips, I only really wire the main branches where there are gaps and bare wood. It's pretty challenging, and not so pretty, but it works.
