I used her in a photo shoot to display some pots once.
Using her to make a line of pots makes it a bit more legit.

Right around 6ft now.

This is the first Shed Vase. I'm going to make one every shed. The second, from the above shed, is waiting for glaze.

I think it looks great Sorce. I used to breed snakes , and lizards and turtles, many years ago.
Never was crazy about the boas and pythons though. Although yours is a hansome and healthy beast. I worked mostly with King, Milk and Rat snakes.
Somewhere in my basement I have an anaconda skin and a few rattlesnake skins. While I bought them to face bows, I have some never used. I will be making pots again very soon and I may have to try it.

Nice!
I was thinking to use my own snakes shed skins to fool the people. We don't have much snakes here in "Canada", so I'm building a collection of shed skins and I'm going to dump them all around the local hiking trails when I have 20 or so.

A couple years ago some Polish dudes took a roadkill wolf from Poland and dropped it on the side of the road here. It hit all the headlines! The first wolf spotted in 200 years or so, and it's dead.. Sheep farmers panicked.
Maybe one of the best jokes ever pulled.
Now that the wolf is actually reintroducing itself here, sheep farmers are still panicking. And with good reason; they don't have the means to protect their herds because they never had to.

My guess is that the presence of 20 fairly large sized adult snakes - in a place where snakes never have been spotted - is going to hit the newspapers as well.

Nice.I like it. I had dozens of snakes--from boas, pythons, kingsnakes, blacksnakes, garter, ringneck and more--when I was in high school. Even had a rattlesnake and a copperhead for a while. When I was in high school aspired to be a veterinarian and herpetologist. Didn't have the math to make it to vet school though.

Always thought snake scales and patterns could be used at elements on bonsai pots. Like rattlesnake rattles for feet, or a "hatband" of snake scale patterns as a border on a pot rim, etc.

And FWIW, that red tailed boa is tiny.... 😜I had a ten footer

She's about to shed again. I might shoot a video.

It's just texture.

Just checked. Shed already.

That boa looks like a Columbian boa. I had a few boas in my lifetime, but was more of a python guy. I had over 100+ at one point when i was breeding them. That vase looks cool!

The last vase probly won't be fired for at least 2 more firings.

The latest shed still rolled up.

And pressed in. With my PVC tube slab roller.
The glaze is darker in the deeper, that's what makes it stand out.

Righteous!!!! (I do NOT throw that word around lightly)

Didn't unravel as cleanly as the last...but...it's for some nice wide sections. 20200731_153420.jpg

Did you ever think of firing terrarium pieces like moist hides and whatnot?

Something tells me I’m missing an obvious piece of information that makes this a “no-no”... but maybe not.

Folks fire all types of aquarium, terrarium, gynarium, (I made that one up) stuff.

I made my daughter's hamster an igloo hut with a vent in the roof!

Thinking about making this snake a hide, she done outgrew her old one!
