Last year I noticed some seedlings/saplings in my front and back yard. I decided to mark them, water them, and stop mowing over some of them from about mid summer 2016.
The results are a bunch of short free starters.

Time to repot one of these yard saplings. More room for roots = happier tree.

Roots circled at the bottom a bit.

Trimmed roots and into a bulb pot.

Ahhh. Someone else also enjoys my favorite 'waste of time'! :)

Perhaps. ?

Another yard sapling (elm) that spent two years in a bulb pot. Time to repot and do something different. Just look at those roots.
