I liberated this escallonia from the landfill. Cleaned it up and let it go. I had no idea they grew this quickly. All I have managed to do is to prune it like a topiary? Any advice on this material?

Very nice. I absolutely love that species. There are interesting gnarly trunked yard specimens all over the place, just waiting to be dug out. The leaves are reasonably small, the trunks bark up great. and they grow like weeds. I'm surprised we don't see more collected landscape escallonias like this being used as bonsai.

Mine feels a bit brittle and hard to style. I'm looking forward to some new growth this year.
