Hi, a couple of the needles towards the bottom of my Japanese black pine sapling started turning yellow two days ago. The affected needles turned almost fully yellow by today. The needles are all at the bottom of the tree, and the top has been growing new needles and isn’t affected by the yellowing.

I had the tree inside, and I’ve moved it outside very recently since the air (Bay Area) has cleared up. The yellowing started before it was moved outside. It’s 5-6 months old from seed.

Seedlings first needles drying up. Natural progression in circle of life;). Should have been outside 5 months ago.

As long as there is still plenty of healthy green do not worry too much. The yellow could just be natural or could be result of being inside. I agree they should have been outside, even in smoke.
