Young and Skinny JBP

Here is this skinny JBP I slip potted into a slightly larger mica pot. I think I will repot it into a tub next spring to help thicken up the trunk.




If 'm just going to stick it in a much larger pot, I should be able to do it now right?
I mean no root work or soil removal. I mean I should be able to just sit it in some nice well draining soil?

I would advise against it for now. Well-settled pines can throw off impressive growth in pots, even when compared to pines in the ground. Additionally, it appears to be done growing for the season, so the benefit vs. risk of rot isn't there. A couple articles to help make that decision:
