Your Favorite Reel, Garden Hose & Sprayer Gun or Wand? Eley any good or a scam/hype?

What's your favorite, most reliable and durable hose reel, garden hose & spray gun or wand?

I'm still using janky crusty old cheap plastic reels and hoses, maybe 10+ years old, with probably 4-6 kinks per hose, and old corroded brass nozzles. I really need to upgrade and change.

But, I did recently have a Gardena adj. spray gun. It worked very nice. Until it started leaking(gushing) profusely on the front twist-ring adjuster only 1-2 months later from brand new. Sent it in for a warranty replacement, and the new 2nd one broke/leaked even sooner, in two weeks. I haven't sent it in for replacement, as shipping is starting to get expensive and costs as much as just buying one. So I went back to the crusty brass nozzle sprayer.

After much research and reading reviews on HomeDepot and Amazon, I realized most consumer metal hose reels are made of regular mild steel and rust and crack easily.
Then, I discovered Eley brand, and it's made of all aluminum with SS hardware/screws/bolts and brass fittings (no mild or regular steel at all in its' construction). They also have an impressive 10 year warranty (I don't know of any other hose reel and garden hose with that long of a warranty). Only thing is, it's super expensive. Anyone use it and can give your opinion on it?

Also want to hear other recommendations for hose reels, hoses and spray guns/wands.

After owning a few metal hose reels that prematurely rusted away I bought an Eley hose reel and am extremely happy with it. I use a Dramm Rain Wand that has been very reliable. Just don't leave either in temperatures below freezing with water in them:(. Of course, you probably don't have to worry about that in Orange County .

I guess local code will dictate that you will need to add a water restriction device to it. I remember attending a trade show in Anaheim in the late 90's. The hotel shower sprayed less water than a bonsai mister;).

I have two Eley wall-mounted hose reels, and have had them for ten years or so. They do not leak... not a single drop. I leave my hose turned on sometimes for days at a time, and it might leak a few drops at the nozzle, but the hose reel itself does not leak AT ALL. Yeah, they are expensive, but this is definitely a case of getting what you paid for. They are also robust so you can crank in a hose that is lying tangled up in your back yard.

I had gotten tired of plastic leaking reels that you have to throw out every couple of years... and I can say that I will never buy a different hose reel brand than Eley going forward.

For the last couple years Ive been using a Zero G hose hooked up through a generic camper carbon filter. The hose has been awesome and rarely kinks. I have no fancy hose reel, gather it up and loop it over a rod iron hook every time I water. For my wand, ive been using the generic blue lowes brand garden wand, repaired twice. This is the first Ive heard of eley and now I am wanty for it.

Just read through those links and threads... I guess the consensus is = Dramm wands and Dramm Redhead is the best :)

Another for Dramm one touch and their seedling (redhead) head. It is advertised as having 1,000 holes. I have three sets ups of each with 50 foot hoses on each. I find it a lot easier having three hose bibs and using shorter hoses rather than using a longer hose that I have to drag and re-route all over the place.

What about for hoses? Eley hoses good/best as well? I read they use a different kinda material.
I don't have any experience with their hose products (yet) but I can imagine they are positive. The short length of hose that came with my Eley hose reel is extremely flexible and has held its shape for three years now. I have been using heavy duty Sears Craftsman rubber hoses that are durable, but they are heavy, tend to kink easily and the rubber surface oxidizes over time.

I used an Eley for 10 years, and it was good. I’ve moved to the lightweight hoses, though, and am not looking back.

Well, I got lucky and got one! (just the wand for now)

Had a meeting for a CL sale, so met up at Green Thumb store, because I needed to buy topsoil to repair my lawn.

And, low and behold, they had lots of Dramm stuff! Also, $17.99; cheaper than eBay (which are around $25ish).

They also had the Redhead ($16) and super high-quality feeling brass shutoff valve ($27) with a SS ball inside. Didn’t get them as they’re expensive. But I’ll get them and upgrade in the future, once my included head and plastic-valve gets worn out.

On a tip from Bolero, I had this sent from China (before Trump today) right a way to the bunker. Now I can get into those tight spots where a fat hose could never go!!!
