Well,it is just about official now.I always wanted to be able to sell and ship these Zelkova to whoever may want to add one to there collection when I am done fiddling with them.
So I am now a licensed nursery in compliance with the USDA to ship these throughout most of the US.
Going to propagate on a much larger scale this season....gives me something to do and inspires me to do better work.YAY:D
I don’t have none ready yet but give me one more season.lol

Congrats! Good luck with your venture!

Thanks, man! I’m starting at least 100 cuttings this year and it doesn’t take long after that . I will definitely be the busy body wiring trees all the time
With the quality you have documented here on the forum, I am sure people will be buying as much as you can produce.

I have learned a lot in this discussion.
And congrats on becoming an official nursery.

Edge of the forest/stream trees.

That is the vision I had when I wrapped these little ones up last November.
In keeping with it,I did not get too particular when I shaped them today. Some needed no wire at all.
All eight turned out interesting if you ask me.I will shape the two real tall ones this evening for Tall Forest trees.
The plan is to wire the first flush on these ,then air-layer for better roots.
It is probably a good thing to have many of these around for a variety of shapes and sizes for future compositions.
A lot this season will be created for larger stature trees......in a hurry lol:D

That time of year again! Did 36 cuttings with the Jiffy Pellets and Hormex #3.
A whole month earlier than last year.My goal is 100 cuttings this year.

how long does it take the perlite to dry out if you don't cover the airlayer with a towel? i just airlayered my winged elm with perlite in a seedling cup instead of the customary spagnum moss/plastic wrap combo, and was wondering if watering once a day will keep it happy.

Glad to hear it.Thanks!
My small colanders arrive tomorrow,so I will prepare the air-layering.

I've been looking for small colanders. Where did you find yours at?

Sorry for the delay. You’ve probably discovered the perlite will need protection.Works great under moist leaves.

Update:
For the several people waiting for shipped trees,I apologize, but the whole business thing is not for me it seems. It really is more fun for me to just create these at home with no agenda really.
So,I will not be shipping.
Blame my Classical guitar hobby lol:D
I do love propagating and these are quite easy to make and I will continue to update this thread and my other projects too.
Thank you everyone

Did some air layers

It has been 14 days since I performed these air layers and they are starting to root very good!I always use a rooting gel.
I thought I would try something different and added some KLN ROOTING CONCENTRATE to the water today.Right at the start of heavy callous and rooting.Probably unnecessary, but on the next batch of layers I will use during the whole end of the process to see if it speeds up rooting.Maybe around day 9or so when they start callous.
I have these in net pots buried in leaves in grade 3 perlite. The leaves are absolutely essential and twice daily watering too.
I can only handle doing 10 at a time for the two weeks I have to gently pull the leaves back twice a day to water.
Hopefully some good Brooms! or other styles,we’ll see.
