I didnt even realise it was American, thought it was a European one. But youre spot on, according to the link it is or was indeed in Virginia or PennsylvaniaUnfortunately the second tree, which as the Brinton House in Virginia (I think, maybe Maryland?) Is no more. A relative was there recently and it has been stumped. Quite a tree though! I had hoped it could be positively ID'd as American Beech but alas. Maybe someone here knows?
