Where to find Good Root over Rock Rocks?

I was looking at some images of large root over rock trident maples in hopes of eventually making one of my own, and I was wondering where they get/how they make such intricate rocks such as in the photo I attached. Are they lava rocks bought/found or fish tank decorations? Would love to hear another opinion.

Fish stores would be a good place to start for rocks, I've found some decent looking ones there.

Seiryu, Manten, Ohko—all and many more used in freshwater planted aquascaping.

Look up any of the names online and you should find some. Best to pay a bit more and buy a What You See Is What You Get rather than hoping something that the person packing the box thinks will works out.

I have found a few at rock shops, usually too expensive.

One reference to Tufa for RIR but there are likely a plethora of various stones online suitable for RIR and ROR styles.
