I was walking around the woods again on the never ending search for unique little trees to dig up and came across a strange little alder. I've never seen anything like this before. Anyone know what's going on here?
It's been less than a month and this thing is doing well, I don't think it even knows it was dug up. Didn't skip a beat and got bushy quick. Some branches are extending a little bit but with very tight internodes. Think I'll just let it go and see what happens.
Not really bonsai but I think it's interesting enough to keep updating.
I'm considering trying to take cuttings or tiny airlayers of these 2 lower bits.
I actually found two if these, they both did well last year and looked good going into winter. Alders are tough, they should wake up in a couple months.
Can't wait to see some new pictures when it buds out this spring.. 80% of my trees are in leaf already in Ohio in a heated greenhouse.. it's a pain but worth the extra months if growing season. I used to get jealous of people in California and places like that. I do hope you are able to keep that tree for a long time so we can see the Weirdness or it.. kinda a freak show for bonsai.. that's s great idea.. I should make a thread about freaks of bonsai heheheheheh
