Correct on cuttings. A. howittii is normally an upright shrub/small tree. Occasionally up to 5 m tall with weeping branchlets but this selection from a prostrate individual plant so all branches are prostrate and we need to wire branches to achieve the initial upright growth. Growing from seed they tend to revert towards the original, upright type.
Fortunately these are relatively easy to propagate as cuttings. It also has the advantage of back budding relatively freely so a little more bonsai friendly.
On of these was at a workshop with a European teacher. He also made comments that he loved the foliage and habit and people back home would love to have similar material to work with.
I guess we all want what we don't have??
