This is another "crazy proyect" in order to use some of the cuttings that I have made.

Really is pretty simple; a "ruined wall" and a ficus growing over it, that is a perfect mach in nature, like this example in the Ta Prohm temple

In my proyect the wall is made of white concrete and pebbles

And the ficuses were put over there, with some sustrate by the way

Will the "composition" work? We will see in the next summer of 2025.

Cheers!

Dont last those roots for to long in soil, figs tend to grow ugly potato like roots

Cool project.

Also, "North Toledo, almost Madrid" I LOLed 🤣🤣🤣

Edit : Just a second after posting my reply I saw the title again and just understood it. Lol, kudos for that.

Here on my climate they are nor such agressive growers.
y put another fig over a dead branch two years ago

Ant it looks like this righ now

So one year review of the roots is enough to keep then in order ;)

Thanks you for your comments!

Nigel Saunders built a small temple and has a fig growing on it much like your first photo. He did a nice job and the roots are growing over it like crazy.
Yeah, that is another level! my proyects are pretty much humble, I saw Nigel's videos as one of my inspiration source. ;)

Here you have the walls one year later

The fig over the dead branch

And another crazy proyect: figs over 3 budas!

Cheers!

more Ta Promh and some roots over wall
I like your projects, i think i want a a ficus now..

Another interesting source of inspiration, be aware when you keep a ficus indoors, maybe you end with a "ficus over house" :p

Cheers!

Would need another box or popup mini greenhouse first, thing is dog toxic :/ so definately next year project
Watched alot pictures of temples covered by roots today, also Nigels casting project relation, need to think how to make concrete temple lighter
"ficus over house"
Not afraid, my kitchen used to resemble jungle for a while when i started messing with plants few years ago ;)

need to think how to make concrete temple lighter

Maybe something with foam will work to, it would be more lighter for sure, :p But maybe it will last lest in long term :confused:perhaps a foam structure, "painted with cement", is a viable intermediate option.

My "ghost monk" is a fabric painted with cement, and appears quite solid once dry

the possibilities are endless

yeah, thought about foam filled and wire reinforcement concrete castings
Need to be lighter because my back, i need to move 5 gallon pot on a cart :/
It literally hurts watching Nigel lifting his temple

Sorry to ear it, I hope you can recovery somehow.

By the way, I think is important not to go too crazy with the structure, it may it be complety covered one point in time, and most of the details will be lost under the roots net, like tears in the rain :p

Take a look to this example

Ill start with simple stepped pyramid ruins design i guess, first foam model, check if i like it, then prob redesign, casting in the winter when gonna do some basement things with concrete, drying, weathering on balcony, planting some moss and finally getting a fig next year.
I hope you can recovery somehow.
Work in progress, key thing is not to overload now
But got plenty of time for books, plants and lightweight projects ;)
I find your projects very inspirational

Just added another knee to my collection of issues ..

I have simpler and shorter design in mind, like skipping entire top part, those stone heads are heaviest and end being covered by roots
Root over portal seems must have and i like it, also 2 step pyramid as base
1 tree side planted, one front and 3rd tall tree in the back (not included in sketch)
and a lot of moss for illusion of ancient ruins

would be also easier to make enclosure for winter on my windowsill (yeah, another box..)
