Hey all,

Well, here it is, my light tent FINALLY arrived. I'm ready to step up my growing this winter. This thing is super reflective, light proof, and humidity proof, so it should be fun to see how things do. Just thought I'd share it with you all, as it is definitely a picker-upper in a much needed time...

Where did you got it and how much? Are you using led grow lights to control heat?

I got it off eBay for $100. There are tons of vents for fans to keep things cool. I use T5 lights for all my trees.

Pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Guess you're feeling beter.

Feelin' better than ever

I built a PVC stand to support the light, as I didn't trust the rigidity of the tent to hold the weight, but hey, this thing is completely light proof and super reflective. Lookin' good.

Looks sweet Ryan. Looking forward to seeing the results this year.

You and me both Tom, should be fun.

I added some shelving and humidity trays, we'll see what we can get temperature/humidity to in here...

Is that a cutting in the vase? I have found water cuttings to be the most effective for me w ficus s. although one also took stuffed in to the "bonsai soil" of my coffee plant.

Yessir it is. It's a cutting from my only Willow Leaf '89. I plan on just rooting it in water and seeing how it handles the conditions in the tent. Water is super effective for rooting Ficus cuttings

I didn't think that you put your lights inside the actual grow tents you use, Ryan. I have been thinking about redoing my indoor growing setup for the winter and I need to figure out it the humidity will kill my fluourescents.

I don't normally, but didn't have a choice with this one. I can easily control the humidity though if an issue ever arises, but things should work out just fine.

For the summer, I plan on using this thing to really root some cuttings. So if you need a cutting or, uh, 7, let me know ;)

Next, I added a piece of plexiglass to sit under the light. That way, any humidity that may build will be blocked from the piece of plastic. I then misted the cuttings and zipped the box back up. 003.jpg

L.E.D. lights and you don't have to worry about humidity better spectrum more lumens and less energy.

Trust me, that's something that's been discussed over and over again. I'm not convinced with them enough to drop the large amount of money required on them. I'm happy with my T5s and have no worries.

Took some more cuttings and will root them in a more "professional" way

Nice to hear you are feeling better and also nice to see you are well enough to start new projects :) May I ask what the dimensions are of that unit and perhaps an SKU off the tag? I could envision that working well for several different things :)

I bought a bigger, more professional version of this. I plan on setting it up after Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night. And when I say bigger, I mean a lot bigger.....
