Has anybody ever used heather, or calluna vulgaris, as an accent plant?

Funny you should ask. I just bought one this past weekend for a kusamono composition I am putting together. It is a white variety with subtle hints of pink.

Well....I tried snapping a photo tonight but they weren't worth posting. But the latin name is Cuphea Hyssopifolia and this a link to a photo that is very similar http://www.american-farms.com/photogallery/cuphea_white.JPG

You can't see the pink highlights in this photo but mine has it. It's very subtle and is most noticeable before the flower buds open. It's a nice contrast between the pinkish flower buds and almost pure white flowers.

They are semi woody plants and I wonder if they could be made into mame sized bonsai.......
