If the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, where does the rain in Houston fall...?

Cannot even imagine what that amount of rain would be like. Hope things don't get too bad in your area.

Now we're talking. Hard rain all night and the 24hr totals are getting respectable. About 13" at the closest rain gauge to my house in the last 24hrs, making this a 17" rain event since midnight Friday. Still absolutely pouring down. There seems to be no end to it with storm bands heading this way extending all the way across the Gulf down to the Mexico border. Glad I turned the sprinklers off.

Dang - stupid thing doesn't seem to have moved an inch. Never seen a stationary hurricane before.

Greens Bayou is out of its banks. White Oak Bayou is out too. Hobby Airport closed as well as I-10 and I-45. Think I'll stay home today.

I've seen radar estimates of close to 50" well southeast of Houston, near the coast. Have you heard of any actual rain gauge totals that high anywhere?

Hi Chris. I haven't seen any rain gauges that high, but they report them on a 24hour total. So I haven't seen cumulative rainfall totals since the storm began. I've seen numbers in Galveston county pushing up 25" in the last 24 hours, but that's missing the first 15hrs or so of the storm event - there were places down there getting hit pretty hard at that time.

I was going to was that there was only so much water in the ocean, but unfortunately I think all this stupid rain is just running right back in.

Nice break on the watering though.

How's it going, Scott? Things are looking rough down your way. Hoping for the best.

Still above the water here, but a lot of good friends aren't. Nearly 30" at my house since this started and still raining. Harvey dipped back offshore for a drink an is then coming to Houston for a visit. I'm afraid we've got a couple more days of this before we start digging out.

I hope that it gives out earlier than they say, this looks devastating already. Best of luck to you Scott.
