Praying mantis

I found this small tan colored praying mantis on my elephant food yesterday

I was just watching the Kratt Brothers (or was it Zaboomafoo?), and I had NO idea that the name is actually derived from “PrEying” mantis... because they are amazing ambush hunters.

Yours look different than the ones I see.

Normally I get standard green, or white. The teal is unusual for me. Ever seen ghost mantis or orchid mantis?

For me, teal AND green are about AS common as one another.

That's incorrect....from my memory.
I also just checked 4 sources....
It is Praying because of the prayer-like stance.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to rewrite that history though.

This one is a leopard mantis from the Canary Islands. I took it over a plant we name "Tabaiba"
