Stoned...

So I have seen several little things you have made, from chicken coup to bridge. I think only once did I see anything for sale. Have I been missing it?
Hehe! There is one structure still “active” in the selling forum..

Some sold.. some got used for contest prizes.

I have to up production.

🤣

My “rate” is soooo slow.

🤪

This’n is the only structure still in stock..

Oooh price quoted BEFORE the shipping rate hike.. it’s like Christmas... for whoever buys it.

🤣

It’s composition is unlike any other clay I’ve worked with. Now that I know a little more about it’s drying properties.. I REALLY like this.

But it does dry/set differently.. which isn’t too tough, once you know to anticipate it. I learned!

Gotta fire this stuff Slooooooow.

🤓
How so?
It’s hard, in my opinion. It’s great for pots, I think

The difference between the surface drying, and the plasticity of the interior “threw me off” a bit...

It’s never as hard as YOU THINK it is, I’ve found. I like to give this EXTRA consideration. I really like the clay.

How does it perform (in this essence) in comparison to other clays you’ve tried?

This texture-patterned round is almost dry...

This pattern/design is very reminiscent of the piece that was chucked into a pitcher of water, and ALSO similar to my LAST two pots made for my last fire.

I think this is the direction that a portion of my work will be going..

Still obsessed with clean lines.. but SO infatuated with creating texture-patterns.

It has a lot of grit in it, so I try not to sponge it. The grit will catch when smoothing it so that is a different aspect. It has a lot of strength to it so it holds up well when firing. It doesn’t shrink as much or warp as much. I have only had 1 pot crack that wasn’t my fault during firing.

it wedges hard… I keep my scraps in a ziploc with water until it gets full. When I wedge it all it’s a project

Yeah... i eliminated “spongeing” from my arsenal.. I was never real competent at it. I know that’s not a good reason, but I found other methods...

like learning how to utilize your fingerprints and free motion correctly as tools..

I also like leather.. Using a scrap of leather replaced a few methods of operations.

It’s much like the impalpable grog I’ve been encountering.. like the “touch”.. seems dryer than the reality of the body. Once you KNOW this... my process flowed easier.. I really enjoy working with this clay.. it successfully eliminated Rocky Mountain’s BMX from my personal standings.. and sits about even with A 101.. the proof will be in the “very hot pudding” :)

NONE of this is bad.. at all.

This was the purpose of me trying many clays... discover facets of differing clay bodies/compare contrast with AS many VARIED bodies as I can. This will help me find out what I Do NOT like. And also WHY. Similarly, I’d like to find what I DO like, and also find out why.

I’ll be busting into some of those “specialty-sounding” bodies that you sent soon!

Hole In The Wall!

Ok, so here it's called Tunnel Drive, but this is where they shot the scene in the 1965 comedy western Cat Ballou where they traveled to the town of outlaws and bandits called Hole In The Wall. Much of the rest of the movie was also filmed in the area, along with quite a list of others.

The trail was originally built to run water through a three foot wooden pipe from the river upstream to the city's first water treatment center.

HAHAHHAHA!!!!

Let’s have some fun here.. with preconceptions..

Bnutters!... WITHOUT SEARCHING...

Who do YOU think PLAYED the part of Cat Ballou?

(If you KNOW.. don’t blurt)

Guesses are appreciated aaand more of what I’m going for.

GREAT pics, Shady. Thank you SO much for sharing. Did the kids find it won’drus?

They found a cave just big enough for them to squeeze into and explore while I got dirty looks from passersby for letting them do something so horribly dangerous, though oddly enough smiles when they were scaling 30ft cliffs. People make no sense sometimes.

I remember very well. She was in the news a lot during those days.

I think I've seen those somewhere before.
;)
Most folks don’t know that we share correspondence (and are each other’s mental health accounta-billi-buddies) outside of this platform... but this is, definitely, the case.
