If you want a bigger trunk, I'd ground grow it for a few years, THEN air layer above the graft. The root stick that it is grafted to will be a stronger and more vigorous rootbase. Sorry, haven't been on much the past couple years. The tree is progressing well. Currently dropping foliage as it normally does when brought in for the winter. Here it'll sit until spring when it'll get a hard cutback and rewired. Aaron

Couldn't tell you how old mine is as I collected it, but based on the growth rate of them in that area, I'd assume it's over 20 years old when collected. Aaron
