Need help finding set of Japanese books

I meant "you can send your order to Kinbon (in English) to purchase the set of books (in Japanese)" ;) They can also be purchased through Amazon Japan, which usually gets books/magazines to my door in 3 business days.

    European Olive is this normal?

FWIW, I have a tiny olive and a monster olive that I have kept alive and kicking for a few years (3 years for the monster, 7 years for the tiny). The tiny olive gets winter-stored in the basement (along with the citrus), with south facing windows, and gets watered only once the pot is fully...

Anybody have experience with making Anagama/wood fired bonsai pots?

You could scale up a minigama... that design uses a forced air feed to reach stoneware temperatures. It runs on a mix of charcoal and wood.

18 months of pot making and I’m improving.

Nice, I hope I'll meet you there ;)

Need help finding set of Japanese books

I was sort of expecting that the last two wouldn't be published after the lack of updates post 2019, but "low interest" in prunus and chojubai? wtf? From past discussions with him, I know that the project was costlier than he had expected and it is entirely possible that the sales of the French...

    The Trophy 2023 - 25 & 26 feb - Genk, Belgium who's going?

The proper food for the trophy is stoofvlees on top of fries! I'll be there on Saturday with a few members of my club. Maybe we need something to recognize fellow bnuts.

Need help finding set of Japanese books

Actually someone (Guy Maillot) already acquired the rights to the French and English translations... but I think the project was shelved. The French translation covers books 1 to 8... there's been more than 2 years without updates. I'll check to see if they're still planning to release the rest.

Rapeseed meal as fertilizer for Scot Pine

Rapeseed meal is ok, but there are two types: -fat meal (press extraction only, about 8% oil remaining) -fully extracted meal (press extraction, followed by solvent extraction of the leftovers, about 1% oil remaining) Most of the commercially available rapeseed meal is the fully extracted kind...

Can crushed rapeseed be used instead of rapeseed meal as fertilizer?

Digging up an old thread... You want rapeseed meal, but there are two types: -fat meal (press extraction only, about 8% oil remaining) -fully extracted meal (press extraction, followed by solvent extraction of the leftovers, about 1% oil remaining) Most of the rapeseed meal you'll commercially...

    Hong kong Kumquat/ Kinzu

It's a wild kumqat. It's supposedly able to survive -10C but that would be in the ground and not in a pot. I'm sheltering all my citrus to be on the safe side... even the ones that support down to -15C (poncitrus trifoliata).

    Hong kong Kumquat/ Kinzu

Kinzu/キンズ/金豆 means "golden bean(s)", because of the tiny size of the fruits. Regular kumquats are called "kinkanzoku"/キンカン属 in Japanese.

    Norway maple progress

You could make a pretty large tree out of it by field-growing it for a few years.

    Hong kong Kumquat/ Kinzu

They root rather well and can be grown from cuttings. They are also commonly air-layered and mame/shohin with radical trunk movement can be trained from root cuttings. The seeds take up to 3 months to germinate and the seedlings will take 6 to 8 years before fruiting, I have a few non "golden...
