From my experience with mulberries (non Bonsai related) they are very hardy and resilient. They are like a weed and will take a beating and keep coming back for more. If you've ever seen the book "The Complete Book of Bonsai" by Harry Tomlinson. The cover image is of a Mulberry. Good book too...

I tried the same thing, but to no avail. For some reason they just wont go in my havahart trap. I work great with ground squirrels but I cant wrap my head around a way to catch those squirrels.

Thanks for all the help so far everyone. @Eric Schrader, I generally use general purpose fertilizer since Ivan told me it really doesn't make a difference. I also always give my trees a dose of Trace element FRIT at the beginning of every season, so they should have more than enough trace...

Haha, yeah a senior member shared his technique with this in one of our last MWBS meetings. He takes the piece of wire using two pliers grabbing each end of the wire with one hand or the other and simply gives it a hard tug and it pretty much straitens out.
