another larger chinese banyan yard tree. whacked back hard today. inside pot dimension 28 inches.

thanks for the comments, all. for anthony. the larger measures about 25" across the roots and about 38" high. the other is maybe 20 "across the bottom and a little over 3 feet tall. both are far below their potential. pruning with hedge clippers doesn't help. age is only a guess...

remove all rot down to solid wood. let thoroughly dry. if circumstances allow (without harming the tree), treat wood with torch to burn off fibers and harden wood. wire brush. apply wood stain of your choice or leave as is. when dry, apply wood hardener/preservative. teak or tung oil...
