Live Oak seedlings - what would you do?

I take a lot of pleasure from growing many of my bonsai trees from seed. I have been taking care of these Live Oak seedlings for a little over one season now, and I'm wondering if there's anything I should be considering at this early stage to get them ready for future bonsai styling/shaping...

    Could this work?! I hope!

I have to respectfully disagree with jkl on a couple points, although I'm obviously quite junior to most people in this forum. I don't mind the grumpiness, lol, shows he's passionate and I respect that. But for me it's not about the money, so the fact that a ginseng ficus won't ever be worth a...

    Desert Rose Help

Thanks, Fourteener, I like the pot, too. I bought that one and another similar one at Ross or Marshalls or something. I'm always on the lookout for good, inexpensive bonsai or decorative pots. Both pots together came out to something like $20, I was very pleased. They appear to be real Chinese...

    New to the forum

Thank you, sir, and yes, I have a lot of studying to do. Thank you for the links, I've added them to my bookmarks. I've also begun to read through the pages here: http://www.bonsaiprimer.com/ The bonsai primer is very basic, which is what I need. I especially like the sections about pruning...

    Newbie /Fukien Tea

Get a lamp See if you can get a lamp from Craigslist, but a decent dose of fluorescent light for long hours each day can help tea trees survive. I have seen friends' Fukien Teas go bonkers with 24/7 lighting inside an office kept at an even 68F or so. A little fertilizer once in a while and...

    New to the forum

Hi everyone, I've been trying my hand at bonsai for several years now, pretty much just trial and error, definitely a lot to learn. Here are a few pics of my collection. I have a lot of repotting and styling/maintenance to do once I finish school in a couple weeks. I look forward to meeting...

    New bonsais and new member!

Greetings, new member here, too Hey, Bonsaiboy, I grew up in northwest Ohio, so I'm glad to see people trying bonsai in the more northern climes. I'm in South Florida now, so I get to grow just about anything year-round. Good luck with your first couple, they look good so far!

    Desert Rose Help

My desert rose is getting pretty leggy this spring. I've not grown this one for very long, should I trim it back a bit, will it bud back? I assume it branches or buds where it's been cut. Is wiring done on these? I'd like to shape it a bit for better effect, what would you do?
