Thanks for the feedback MM You are quite right that it is a corner that I like. I have always liked that feel of a very small pad hanging down and as this project developed, I moved in that direction. Whether or not it is right, I cannot say. I like the idea of up potting it to develop and...

Very valid point and thanks for pointing it out. For now I feel the pad is still too big and needs to be thinned out. The problem is that too much removed will weaken the tree to much and I could loose it so I am doing it slowly. The bend could be too tight but the good think about the...

    Intelligent conversation of the Literati

In August 2017 I decided to put it into a pot. I cleaned up the tree, did some light work and put it into a pot (The totally wrong pot mind you) In Sept I rewired the canopy area and put some more movement into the upper trunk. At the end of Oct, the pot broke. Have no idea why but the...

I had purchased a Juniperus procumbens 'Nana' from a nursery in 2012 with the plan to bonsai the tree. It had been standing in the bag from the nursery under a bush in the garden and I never got round to it. Eventually in Sept 2014 I took it out and cut it into pieces and planted them. In Jan...

    Bougie into a Cascade?

Agree. Gives me time to develop the canopy and find the best possible pot. Size wise I feel that it is good though.

    Bougie into a Cascade?

Thanks Cadillactaste. Appreciate the feedback. I actually had to cut off quite a load of roots to fit it into the pot but was lucky that there were so many healthy roots to be able to remove it. I am going to let the soil settle and have it recover and then will put on some moss to...

    Bougie into a Cascade?

So eventually I got to repot this Bougie. I had forgotten that I had a cascade pot hidden in my cupboard and only after a tidy up did I realise that I could use it. Now it might not be the final pot that I want it in but it at least now over the next few seasons, I can develop the canopy in a...

Thanks Sorce Definitely needs a new pot. Want to get something with a much more African feel to it to round it off. Something bright vibrant colours?

    Celtis Sinesis / Africana

Just a quick update on this Celtis. It has been growing nicely. I gave it a slight clean up by cutting back some of the longest branches so that I can continue to work on the ramification. I checked all the guy wires to make sure they are not cutting into the bark and that is all fine. For...

Tillandsia ionantha 'Rosita' in full blush and flowering. The colours are amazing. I was fooling around with using it as an accent plant on some of my trees. Acacia Burkeii - Black monkey Thorn cascade Acacia Burkeii - Black monkey Thorn - Umbrella Style

Shohin Celtis Sinensis - 17cm (6.69 inches) top to the lip of the pot. The pot is too big but I will only change it once I find the best possible pot. Messing around with a display. Used a Tillandsia albertiana as an accent plant.

I do know that is a problem with loads of people. Everyone sees bonsai differently and by getting everyone’s view, it allows you to make an informed decision on how to proceed.

Thanks so much Vance I love honesty as it is the only way one can learn This is a Celtis sinesis - Chinese Hackberry. They grow like weeds and I do know that they love to throw new shoots from all over. I am constantly on the look out for new buds along the trunk. But I have to agree that...

I also like it but I am worried about the tree if is would survive having such a small pad. MMMMMM.

Thanks so much for the advice. I do like it and definitely a great option instead of removing it. Do you think this is then a viable option for the future if the pads are then developed more?

    Intelligent conversation of the Literati

Hi Am I correct is that what you are suggesting is removing the large pad (in the middle) and the lowest pad and then try and bring a much smaller pad (Just above the large middle pad) into its place. That would leave me with a very small pad at the top and a even smaller pad in place of the...

Now I am thinking on the next step. I believe I need to remove the branch right in the middle. Virt with removed branch Then if I removed that branch, then I feel like I need to bring the top pad downwards and compact it more. The other suggestion someone gave was the remove the top...
